Shamanism, Paganism, Indigenous Peoples and Earth Mythology Selected
Organizations and Sources of Information Foundation
for Shamanic Studies - Founded by Michael Harner, internationally-known
anthropologist and author of The Way of the Shaman, the FSS offers
workshops and trainings in "core shamanism" -- the shamanic
journey method, using rhythmic drumming, for healing and divination.
The FSS offers workshops in all parts of the country, taught by Michael
Harner, Sandra Ingerman and other faculty. The FSS also supports research
projects to support the recovery of lost shamanic practices. Sandra Ingerman - This is the website for Sandra Ingerman, an internationally known teacher of shamanism, and author of the books Soul Retrieval and Medicine for the Earth. Metahistory - An inquiry into human experience that looks beyond (meta-) the commonly understood version of events toward engagement in a different story about how humanity can fulfill itself. It is now widely recognized that human beings in all times and cultures enact stories, scripts, and agendas. The scripts are of six recurrent types: religious, racial, national, sexual, political, and familial. Metahistory is a method for looking into the content and composition of these scripts and stories to see how they drive behavior. For more information on this approach see: http://www.metahistory.org Morgana's
Observatory - An extraordinarily diverse collection of informative
articles on ancient myths, prophecies, earth changes, time cycles
and various controversial topics. Organized by planets: for example,
under Saturn, you'll find Hopi and Maya prophecies, Nostradamus, Edgar
Cayce; under Jupiter, the controversies around Rennes-le-Chateau,
Roswell, Gulf War Illness, Dead Sea Scrolls, Emerging Viruses; under

Mystica - An online encyclopedia of articles on the occult, mysticism,
neo-pganism, Goddess worship, witchcraft, magic, the paranormal and
related topics. Native
Web - An extensive listing of resources for Indigenous people and
nations around the world. Hundreds of books, cassettes and CD's categorized

"Primitive" from perceptions of Native American technology
and art. Abya Yala Net : Information on Indigenous peoples in Mexico,
Central, and South America. The Pachamama Alliance School
of Lost Borders - A Training Center for Wilderness Passage Rites.
Founded by the late Steven Foster and Meredith Little more than twenty years
ago, the School offers vision quest or vision fast wilderness experiences
in a safe, guided format, for teenagers and adults in all kinds of
transitions. Rooted in traditional rites of passage, the trainings
also draw on the psychology of Jung and Hillman, and the mythology
of Campbell and Eliade. Besides the basic vision fast, seminars are
offered in "Mirroring and Empowerment", "Four Shields
Initiations", "Night Walking", "Nature of the
Erotic" and others. Nicki Scully and Shamanic Journeys Shaman's
Drum - A Journal of Experiential Shamanism & Spiritual Healing.
This is the pre-eminent journal of practical shamanism in North America.
They publish articles by researchers on traditional practices in North
and South America, Europe and Asia, as well as experiential accounts
by contemporary practicioners and seekers. Explicitly discusses the
connections to current activist projects to preserve biological and
cultural diversity. Shamans
of the Amazon - This is the title of a superb feature-length documentary
film on ayahuasca shamanism in the Amazon, made by Australian filmmaker
Dean Jefferys. It features his experiences with ayahuasqueros in South
America (with his wife and young child), as well as interviews with
the likes of Terence McKenna, and Yatra - a Brazilian woman who started
a heroin addiction treatment center in Holland using ayahuasca. The
special effects to portray the inner visions are particularly effective
-- Pablo Amaringo's visionary paintings come alive, the serpents undulate...
He also dramatically explains and illustrates the fight for ecological
and cultural preservation in Amazonia, and the backdrop of the global
drug war. Highly recommended. You can purchase this video for $28,
as well as other products, on the website.
